Filippo Farinelli (1976) is a pianist and a multifaceted musician, mainly specialised in chamber and vocal chamber music repertoire.

His passion for the French repertoire brought him to realize several monographic recording’s projects with Brilliant Classics, including the complete chamber vocal catalogue by Maurice Ravel and André Jolivet alongside the complete music for Saxophone and Piano by Charles Koechlin together with David Brutti. His engagement on the chamber music repertoire of the last century let him confront with the vocal production of Luigi Dallapiccola as well as with the Entartete Musik. Continuously focused on the contemporary repertoire for solo piano he regularly performs music by Italian composers such as Donatoni, Sciarrino and Momi together with the international repertoire for chamber ensemble including works by (Denisov, Messiaen, Williams). His research on rare and facets repertoire for duo recently led to the co-curatorship of the critical edition of Guido Alberto Fano’s Fantasia Sonata for SEDM.

He has been prize-winner in several international competitions such as Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition 2007 in Amsterdam, 18th Caltanissetta International Competition21st International Competition in Trapani and he founded several ensembles: the Duo Disecheis (dedicated to the historical and contemporary repertoire for sax and piano), Duo Komma (characterized by the desire to rediscover and reassess manuscript works that are part of Italy’s 19th- and 20th-century instrumental repertoire) and the Quartetto Rêves (specialized in the French repertoire of the IX and XX century from duo to quartet).

He works with renowned musicians such as Melissa Phelps, Elisabeth Perry, Federico Mondelci, Mario Caroli, Ivo Nilsson, Patrick De Ritis, Jonathan Williams, and singers such as Monica Piccinini, Alda Caiello, Sophie Marilley, Mark Milhofer, Christian Immler and Roberto Abbondanza. Filippo regularly plays in Italian seasons (Amici della Musica in Perugia, Foggia, Catanzaro, Terni…) and in Festival such as Ljubljana Festival,  MusicaRivaFestival, “da Bach a Bartòk” in Imola, Festival delle Nazioni in Città di Castello, Automne Musical in Châtellerault, Sagra Musicale Umbra. He has mainly recorded with Brilliant Classics and Tactus.

He got degrees in piano and chamber music as well as in composition and orchestral conducting, he obtained a Postgraduate at the Music University of Wien in vocal chamber music repertoire and he studied with Charles Spencer, Irwin Gage, Dalton Baldwin, Pier Narciso Masi and Dario De Rosa among others. He currently serves as Professor of Vocal Chamber Music in Italian Conservatories and held masterclasses in Europe.

Filippo Farinelli (Assisi, 1976) pianista e musicista eclettico principalmente specializzato nel repertorio cameristico e liederistico.

Ha fondato diversi ensemble cameristici tra cui spiccano il Duo Disecheis, dedicato all’interpretazione del repertorio storico e contemporaneo per sax e pianoforte, il Duo Komma, che promuove progetti discografici e di ricerca musicologica per la riscoperta del repertorio italiano di fine ‘800 e contemporaneo, il Quartetto Rêves, specializzato nel repertorio francese di fine ‘800 e ‘900 proposto in performance dal carattere modulare.

È stato premiato in numerosi concorsi cameristici internazionali tra cui spiccano: “Provincia di Caltanissetta” (2003), “Città di Trapani” (2004) e Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition di Amsterdam (2007). Ha collaborato con musicisti quali: Alda Caiello, Monica Piccinini, Sophie Marilley, Mark Milhofer, Christian Immler, Roberto Abbondanza, Federico Mondelci, Mario Caroli, Patrick De Ritis, Simone Simonelli, Ivo Nilsson, Jonathan Williams, Melissa Phelps, Elisabeth Perry. Ha suonato per istituzioni come: Amici della Musica di Perugia, di Foggia e di Catanzaro, per l’Associazione Filarmonica di Terni, per il Festival di Ljubljana, per il MusicaRivaFestival, per il Festival “da Bach a Bartòk” di Imola,  per il Festival delle Nazioni di Città di Castello, per il Festival Automne Musical di Chatellerault, per la Sagra Musicale Umbra.

Ha effettuato registrazioni per le etichette: Brilliant Classics (Olanda), Tactus (Bologna) e altre. Svolge attività di docenza presso conservatori italiani.

Sono stati importanti per la sua formazione musicisti quali: Paolo Vergari (per il pianoforte), Charles Spencer, Irwin Gage e Dalton Baldwin (per il repertorio liederistico), Pier Narciso Masi, Dario De Rosa, duo Pepicelli (per il repertorio cameristico), Ennio Nicotra e Fabio Maestri (per la direzione d’orchestra), Marco Gatti (per la composizione).
