Klee Quintet

Il Quintetto Klee è il risultato della fusione delle esperienze artistico-professionali dell'Atem Saxophone Quartet e del pianista Filippo Farinelli e nasce dall’intento di promuovere, oltre al repertorio originale per questa formazione, legato soprattutto alla musica contemporanea e agli autori del XX secolo, anche lo specifico repertorio che caratterizza la cultura americana, espressa: in America del Nord dal Rag Time (ad esempio Spaghetti Rag di Lyons & Josco) al Musical, in America del Sud, dal tango tradizionale a Piazzolla, passando per le musiche da film di ogni genere. La passione che accomuna i cinque strumentisti per questa formazione cameristica, produce un’amalgama unica, dove i sassofoni del quartetto si intrecciano al pianoforte, esprimendo tutte le capacità tecniche dell’ensemble, riuscendo sempre a far divertire il pubblico attraverso arrangiamenti di qualità fatti dagli stessi componenti del quintetto. Un esempio ben riuscito è l'arrangiamento della famosa Rapsodia in blu di G. Gershwin di cui è disponibile l'ascolto della performance live tenuta al Piediluco Festival edizione 2005: .


The Klee Quintet reflects the fusion of the artistic and professional experiences of the Atem Saxophone Quartet and the pianist Filippo Farinelli. Its objective is to promote not only the original repertoire of this formation, linked above all to contemporary music and the composers of the 20th century, but also the specific repertoire that characterizes the American culture, expressed in North America by genres from ragtime to musicals, and in South America from traditional tango to the works of Piazzolla, as well as all types of film scores. The passion that links the five members of this chamber music ensemble creates a unique amalgam. The quartet’s saxophones are interwoven with the notes of the piano, fully expressing the ensemble’s technical capacities – and captivating audiences with extraordinary arrangements by the members of the quintet. The arrangement of George Gershwin’s famous Rhapsody in Blue is an excellent example.
